Sandra Fonseca is an IT, audit, project management, statistics, and accounting professor, program director, instructional content developer, and speaker. Her specializations are in information technology, risk management, IT audit, cybersecurity, statistics and data modeling, operations, and project management. Dr. Fonseca has over 30 years of experience in the IT cybersecurity, data governance, and project management field, both in state and federal government, 15 of them as CISO, as well as over 27 years in academia, where she has served as program designer and lead, as well as program director for MSIT and Cybersecurity programs.
Dr. Fonseca holds a Doctoral degree in Business, with a specialization in Management Information Systems (DBA-MIS) from Ana G. Méndez University. She is currently working on her dissertation towards a second doctoral degree in Education with a specialization on Instructional Design at Northcentral University (EdD-ID-ABD). Her master’s degree is on Information Systems from EDP University and a Bachelor’s degree on Business, Computer Information Systems from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus.
She’s an advocate for professionalization and has collaborated and served as volunteer and board member at board of directors for local chapters in Puerto Rico for ISACA, ISSA, and PMI. In Washington DC, she’s a volunteer for the Washington DC chapter of ISACA, and PMI.
Reading sci-fi and fiction novels and playing the guitar are her decompression and meditation therapy. She’s a “Who·vian” – a fan of the British science fiction television series Doctor Who, and a “Trekie”, fan of the Star Trek and Twilight Zone series.
