Dr. Monica Mason obtained a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, MD. She earned a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems from St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ. She later enrolled in a doctoral program at Capella University where she most recently earned her Doctor of Information Technology.
Dr. Mason worked for more than 12 years in the Information Technology field, primarily as a system administrator. She also has experience in networking and security. After serving in this type of support role for many years, she made the transition to the classroom. She has been a full-time instructor in the Computer and Information Technology Department at a technical college for over 12 years. She also is an adjunct instructor/professor and has been with the University of Fairfax since 2021.
Dr. Mason is active in her community. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Upsilon Kappa Omega Chapter. She has served as president, technology committee chairman, corresponding secretary, and has worked on several committees. She is currently recording secretary for her chapter and serves on a regional committee. She has two sons, a sophomore at Elon University and a rising 8th grader.
